Compensation

Why compensating ropes and chains in elevators?

  • Reduced energy saving, because the compensation ropes and chains, functioning as counterweight, adjust the weight of large parts of the ropes.
  • Gentle starting up and brake of the car
  • Optimal traction capability particularly for high shafts

Application of the compensating chains

Meaningful as from 1 m/s till max. 3.5 m/s (according to relevant norm)

  • for low rise till 1.75 m/s:
    EcoBalance
Cost-optimized plastic-coated chain with “simple” accessories
  • for low, mid und high rise applications:
    ComfortBalance
fully extruded with  better running smoothness
  • Accessories for ideal mounting

Application of the compensating ropes

  • Mainly for installations of 2.5 m/s and upwards with tensioning device (according to EN 81-1 a jump-safety function of the tension roller as from 3.5 m/s is required)
  • Solution: DRAKO 180B / DRAKO 200B
  • Advantage:
    • High Flexibility through special construction
    • Less elongation through special synthetic cores
    • Special lubrication for longer service life and larger maintenance intervals

Special Compensating Ropes

Special compensating ropes (balance ropes), to be used in tensioned application only. The rope construction varies with the nominal diameter to optimize the performance.

Characteristics:

Preformed, bright, right hand ordinary lay

Core:

DRAKO 180B and CRAKO 200B are made with a fibre core (SFC)

Rope grades available:

1370/1770 or 1570

DRAKO 180 B, 6 x 25 F – FC

DRAKO 180 B, 6 x 36 WS – FC

DRAKO 200 B, 8 x 25 F – FC
